Dental Architects for Multidisciplinary Care

Are you unhappy with the current state of your teeth? In so, then Prosthodontic Dental Group may have the solution for you. They are called veneers, and they can drastically improve the size, shape, and aesthetics of your smile. Our specialists can use veneers to fix stained, chipped, worn down, misaligned, gapped, or abnormally shaped teeth. Each veneer is shaped into a thin shell that fits snugly around the front of your tooth.

Veneers are fabricated using two materials, composite resin, and porcelain. Porcelain is a more common choice because of its superior esthetics. It can be a brittle material, but once it is bonded to the tooth, it becomes strong, durable, and reliable.

Procedure for Veneers

Veneers take one or two appointments to complete. If the veneer is prefabricated, we can complete the process in one visit. If the veneer is fabricated in a dental laboratory, the process will take two appointments. Veneers fabricated in a dental laboratory offer better aesthetics and a more precise fit.

During your first visit, we will sterilize the tooth and determine the correct shade for each veneer. Then, we will remove a small amount of enamel from the front surface of your tooth to make space for the veneer. We may need to use a local anesthetic, depending on the level of your sensitivity. Most of the time local anesthetic is not necessary.

After your specialist has removed the appropriate amount of enamel, we the make an impression of your teeth that will be receiving a veneer. The impression is sent to the dental laboratory, where they will custom fabricate each veneer to your specific smile. In certain situations, you may be given temporary veneers while we wait for the lab.

Once your veneers are complete, we will remove the temporaries and prepare your teeth. The back of each veneer and front of each tooth will be slightly etched to create a rough surface. This surface will allow the veneer to adhere to the tooth. Then, each veneer will be placed on the tooth to check for a proper fit. After we achieve the proper fit, we will then apply dental cement and use a curing light to permanently bond the veneer to the tooth.
